Yoga
Yoga means yoke or to unite. As a 6000 year old practice from India; it is a path, a discipline, a way of life. It serves to strengthen and purify our minds, our bodies, and our spirits.
Why do we do Yoga?
In Yoga you begin to listen to your body, learning to go with it, not against it. Many of us begin our practice for stretching, chronic pain, sports injuries or simple relaxation. But it does much more than that for us! It massages our internal organs, calms the nervous system, and reconnects us to our breath. For example; emotions can literally get stuck in the joint areas of the body, so with movement and breathe work we can gently coax them to release.
All Yoga asanas (or poses) are for the purpose of elongation; to create space in the spine and space in the entire body. And since blood is what carries oxygen to the muscles, we need the breath to be able to move efficiently. We, therefore, work on the breath with each pose.
In the beginner classes you will learn Yoga theory, studio etiquette, basic poses, breath work and much more. Please check course calendar for Yoga class times.
